Outkast’s André 3000 and Big Boi are set to reunite after a hiatus and headline Bestival, as one of only two UK festival gigs currently scheduled for this year.
The Isle of Wight event takes place from September 4 to 7 at the Robin Hill Country Park.
According to organisers, there will be three more headliners added to the bill, and the festival theme will be Desert Island Disco.
‘Hey ya! By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I’m pretty darn excited to announce that Outkast are headlining Bestival this year,’ Rob da Bank said in a statement.
The Portsmouth-born festival organiser and DJ added: ‘We’ve fought hard to get the recently reunited legendary hip-hop duo on to the ferry...and it’s no ordinary ferry this year, as Bestival goes Desert Island Disco for 2014...Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day. It truly is gonna be the Bestival yet.’
Returning after a hiatus of seven years, Outkast will spend this summer celebrating their 20th anniversary by appearing as a marquee act at a series of events, four of which have now been announced: Bestival; the two weekends of Coachella on 11 and 18 April; and New York’s Governors Ball in June.
It is anticipated they will add the Glastonbury Festival in June to their schedule.
