Local psych-rock stars Kassassin Street are bringing their biggest year so far to a climax with a hometown show – and to celebrate the release of their new single, Centre Straight Atom.

Singer Rowan Bastable and drummer Nathan Hill came in to see The Guide for a chat about their year.

Rowan says: ‘It’s been really cool, we’ve done loads this year – played lots of great shows – loads of festivals, we’ve played the Isle of Wight Festival, Truck Festival, we went up to York for Galtres Festival and Victorious was awesome.

‘Plus there was Bestival, and the Kings Theatre for Southsea Fest.’

And they’re hoping that the new single, which was released on Monday, will build on the momentum of their debut The Royal Handkerchief Ballet.

‘The build-up has been going well,’ adds Rowan. ‘We’re getting more organised each time we do something.

‘We’ve been back on Tom Robinson’s blog, XFM, 6Music – it’s been really positive.’

Kassassin Street are joined for the show at The Rifle Club tonight by Popobawa, The Boy I Used to Be and Number9. Check for ticket availability.
