BIG INTERVIEW Joe Satriani: 'I just wanted to be in the studio and rock out with two other guys.'

Have your say

Race Car Hearts is the new vehicle for former Thirst frontman Chris Perrin.

If you like Snow Patrol or Ryan Adams, you will love his new material.

A packed Fat Fox on Albert Road was made-up of lots of familiar faces from Chris’s Thirst days, alongside a contingent of university students, who it was good to see checking out a new band from the city.

The five-piece picked their way through all of the songs from the new Race Car Hearts album, with the instantly memorable Lights being a favourite on the night.

Chris has always been a great frontman and by turns jokes with the audience and displays his heart-rending fragile side. The epic Sweetheart is another standout, as is And From The Sky They Came.

The band encored with my personal favourite song from the album, The Immortal Ones, which has very special lyrics and will connect with a lot of couples.

As the audience left, they were given a free CD featuring Better Kind from the album – a smart move. It looked like most of them were snapped-up to me, but if not, get along to the band’s next show and pick up a copy.
