Have your say

Since they formed in 2002, Editors have received widespread critical acclaim and enjoyed chart success, not to mention a Brit Award nomination.

The group kickstarted this show with album track Sugar, which had the crowd clapping and stamping along from the very beginning. Other tracks included Formaldehyde and Honesty. There was certainly no sign of negativity in the Southampton Guildhall for their latest work.

However, it was clear throughout that the crowd were far more enamoured with the Birmingham band’s older material. Unsurprisingly, their highest-charting single, Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors, proved incredibly popular. All Spark and Munich also generated rapturous applause.

Lead vocalist Tom Smith was a truly commanding frontman throughout and the band’s boundless enthusiasm was impressive.

The encore consisted of Bricks and Mortar, Nothing and Papillon.

There is no doubt that the Editors are still a class act when it comes to live performance.
