Review: Forever in Blue Jeans, The Kings Theatre, Southsea

Have your say

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Forever in Blue Jeans brought a really fun, high energy show to the Kings Theatre with a brand new production for 2015.

With strong vocal performances from all three singers, the audience were treated to a nostalgic trip down music’s memory lane with hits from the 50s through to the classic hits of today. Special mention goes to Carole Gordon, who shone in the Carpenters set. Interestingly, Gordon and her late partner Bob Newman, who produced the original show, toured with Tammy Wynette both in the UK and America in their earlier careers. The invaluable experience clearly paid off as her vocals were fantastic all night.

Rachel Cantrell also stood out with a brilliant rendition of Over the Rainbow.

The band was fantastic throughout the evening with not a note out of place and Andy Saphir’s guitar playing was simply sensational. With everyone on their feet dancing for the finale of Achy Breaky Heart, country and western and rock ‘n’ roll fans will love this show.
