Review: Foxes at the Wedgewood Rooms

Club Scene with Sam Cherry

Have your say

Amazing. This is the first word that comes into my head to describe Foxes’ performance but even that doesn’t really do her much justice as she was fantastic.

The laid-back singer owned the stage as soon as she came out and looked comfortable throughout.

Her vocals were incredible – pitch-perfect and this made the songs that were not as well-known sound like hit records.

She sang her hit single Youth in the middle of her set and the crowd responded, singing the vocals with her. Louisa Allen, Foxes, took this as her opportunity to open up to the crowd as she moved from one side of the stage to the other engaging with the audience all the way.

One of my favourite songs was her cover of Pharrell’s Happy and Massive Attack’s Teardrop, as it highlighted her vocals beautifully.

Support act, Prides, were brilliant and their song Out Of The Blue showcased their musical ability to produce good songs that should become chart hits.

These two bands will not stay small for long, I believe there’s a great future for both of them. With Foxes’ fantastic vocals, she is definitely a rising star.
