THE Stone Roses have been confirmed as the headline act for next year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
The Manchester-based foursome will be headlining on the opening night of the festival on Friday, June 14.
They will be playing the main stage in Seaclose Park, Newport and will be the band’s only festival performance of 2013.
Isle of Wight promoter John Giddings said: ‘When you talk about the soundtrack of our lives, the Stone Roses are embedded in it.
‘I am so proud to get them to our island – they will kick the weekend off with a bang.’
Tickets for the festival go on sale from this Wednesday.
As previously reported, there were fears the festival would be pulled after traffic chaos at this year’s event.
But last week the Isle of Wight Council allowed the festival to keep its licence.
