EVEN with eight months to go until Victorious descends on Southsea anticipation is building.
It comes as organisers of the smash-hit city festival today reveal six artists set to perform when it returns over 2019’s August Bank Holiday weekend.
The spectacular will welcome tens of thousands of music lovers from Hampshire and beyond to enjoy a catalogue of acts and stages offering ‘something for everyone’.
Hailing from Coventry, kings of two-tone and ska revival The Specials will set the atmosphere on Victorious Festival’s opening night of Friday, August 23.
Already being dubbed a ‘party night’, the group will deliver material from their 40-year career as well as tracks from Encore – their first new record in 20 years – which is scheduled for release in February.
On Saturday, the mantle will be passed to Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter James Bay, Swedish rockers The Hives and London indie outfit The Rifles.
Bay’s 2015 debut album The Chaos and the Calm scored him the number one spot, before he graced his fans with his second studio record in May, Electric Light.
The Hives have spoken of new additions to their discography spanning more than 20 years, while 2019 will mark a decade since the release of The Rifles’ Great Escape.
And when the show concludes for another year on Sunday, August 25, Clean Bandit and The Vaccines will be there to celebrate – bringing their brands of moreish electronica and indie rock.
Victorious Festival organiser Andy Marsh said he is ‘excited and pleased’ to unveil the ‘big names’ – with headliners still due to be announced.
‘We wanted to spread a little festive cheer by revealing just a smattering of what we’ve got in store for next year,’ he said.
‘It’s already shaping up to be our best line-up up to date and we can’t wait to announce the rest of it.'
Over the years the festival’s large-scale Castle Field line-up reveals have piqued interest. On whether a similar stunt was planned for 2019, Mr Marsh said fans ‘will have to wait and see’.
Early bird ‘tier one' Victorious tickets are on sale at victoriousfestival.co.uk, starting at £25 per day.
