This week will see the first pair of heats take place in The News’ backed competition, All About The Song.

Over the next three weeks and six heats, singer-songwriters from around the region will be competing for a place in the final which will be held at The Wedgewood Rooms on Sunday, June 22.

All heats will be at The Cellars in Eastney, with the first two on Monday and Tuesday.

An expert panel of expert judges – including music industry professionals, will be picking six acts from the heats to go through to the final.

The overall winner will receive a package of prizes to support and develop their profile. Including a day in a professional recording studio with a producer from DFA Records and Universal Music, the opportunity to record and mix at least two songs, the chance to perform at Kings Theatre’s Children in Need Gala, The News We Can Do It Awards and The Guide awards, as well as a trophy to mark their success.

The contest is taking place as part of this year’s Portsmouth Festivities, and is also backed by Express FM and Nevada Music.

Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets are £2.
