WICKHAM Festival has made the final three of a top national award after its most successful year.
The event is on the shortlist in the Best Festival (Capacity under 15,000) category of the Live UK Music Business Awards.
The rivals for the award are Dorset’s End of the Road and the Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds.
The winner will be announced at a gala awards evening in London on October 15.
This year, the Wickham Festival, which was held last month, saw record crowds flock to see headliners the Proclaimers, 10cc, Billy Bragg and many more.
Organiser Peter Chegwyn said: ‘We were thrilled just to be nominated for this coveted award and to make the top 10.
‘But to be named in the top three is a great achievement.
‘It’s a fitting tribute to all the people who work so hard to make this festival such a success and to create its unique relaxed atmosphere and family feel.
‘It would be fantastic if we could win but we are very honoured just to have made the shortlist, especially when you look at the quality of the others who were nominated.’
The Live UK Music Business Awards is now in its sixth year.
