Great art work to enjoy at Rowlands Castle exhibition

FROM greetings cards, to oil paintings, a huge range of art work will be on display from a painting society.

The Rowlands Castle Painting Society is holding its spring exhibition and sale at its meeting venue, the village’s parish hall in Links Lane.

This year it coincides with the Havant Arts Trail over the weekend of May 14 and 15.

Terry Devaney, from the art group, said: ‘This is a real bonanza of art happening over the arts trail weekend.

‘There is much to see and enjoy, framed original paintings, folios and greeting cards, the diversity of work makes for an exhibition full of interest.

‘It promises to be an excellent event.’

The society was set up 45 years ago and members come from across the region – from Petersfield to Portsmouth.

Mrs Devaney said: ‘We even have one member commuting from America.

‘Our members are from all walks of life and their work reflects this.

‘There have been several very talented members join the society over the last couple of years, who are putting paintings into the exhibition.

‘The exhibition covers a range of topics, including local scenes and offers paintings in a variety of mediums and sizes.

‘It is an ideal opportunity for those moving into a new house, to find an original piece of art which will bring interest to an otherwise bare wall.’

There will be tea, coffee and home-made cakes.
