The duo met each other after separate trips to Africa where they formed a bond over music.

Their initial bond came over Central American Republic Pygmy musical patterns and ended up writing the album together loosely inspired by this music.

This can be heard on the track, Broke Me In Two, where you can recognise this influence in the staccato bit-crushed guitar line that plays throughout the joyous pop song.

Joan is known to many for her collaborations with Antony (Anohni), Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and David Sylvian.

A deeply soulful artist who crosses musical genres effortlessly, the new album is wonderful, liberating and a true collaboration from creation to under the lights of the stage.
