Lee-on-the-Solent runner to take on hundredth marathon

A SPIRITED mother-of-two will have 99 balloons tied to her when she takes on her hundredth marathon on Sunday.

Lisa Hennen, 45, from Lee-on-the-Solent, made the decision to start running on a New Year’s Eve promise back in 2008 and will complete her goal of running a 100 marathons when she takes on the Marathon Day Marathon in Betteshanger Country Park, Kent.

The road runner has mainly competed in trail marathons over the last eight years and will be awarded her 100th balloon when she crosses the finish line.

She said: ‘I started running because at the time I had no hobbies and decided that I would give it a go and now I absolutely love it.

‘I find it so inspiring and it’s like an addiction for me.’

Lisa has completed 10 road marathons, taking on Brighton four times over the years.

She has inspired her partner Eric Macgurk and her two children, Jenay, 18 and Olivia, 13, to take up running as well as setting up her own club called Lisa Solent Runners.
