New Portsmouth performing arts studio helps youngsters to shine

THE opening of a performing arts studio in Paulsgrove will help young people to discover their true talents, according to the owner.

Paulsgrove Community Centre will now play host to Shine, a performing arts school for children between the ages of five and 18.

The group was set up after owner June Young realised there was nothing in the surrounding area that put all genres of dance under one roof.

Film, TV, stage and musical theatre will all be taught to the children, as well as backstage roles '“ in the hope of boosting self-confidence, self-esteem and promoting positive mental health in the young people who attend the classes.

Deputy Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr David Fuller, Cllr Gemma New and Cllr Jo Hooper were all on hand for the grand opening.
