After all the excesses of Christmas and new year, what better way to take it easy and let someone else do the hard work of entertaining than to head on down to the first Wedge Comedy Club of the year?
Tonight’s show features Jim Tavare, Paul McCaffrey, plus a further guest, as well as regular compere Dinga.
Since winning both The London Paper and the Latitude Festival new act competitions in 2009, Paul has become an act to watch out for.
Following that, he’s rarely been out of the public eye.
He’s been heard on Russell Kane’s Whistle-Stop Tour on Radio 2 and was a regular guest on The Matt Forde Show on talkSPORT.
And he’s also featured on Russell Howard’s Good News as well as starring in two series of Impractical Jokers, both on BBC3.
Keen-eyed film fans might recognise Jim as the innkeeper of the Leaky Cauldron in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
But, during a long and varied career, he has also had his own Channel 5 sketch show, co-written with Ricky Gervais, made a trio of Royal Variety Performance appearances, and become the only overseas act to ever reach the final of American station NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
Doors open at 7.30pm with food served until 8.45pm. The comedy runs until about 11pm and a disco runs through until 2.30am.
Tickets cost £8. Go to wedgewood-rooms.co.uk
