Since bursting on to our television screens in Five’s Monkey Magic back in 2002, Pete Firman has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s leading comedian magicians.

It was clear for the crowded Ashcroft Arts Centre to see why as the Jiggery Pokery tour demonstrates why Firman is deserving of such a swift rise to fame.

The show, was jam-packed with mind-blowing magic from card tricks to visual illusions, as well as great audience interaction, inviting several members of the crowd to join him in the spotlight.

The most impressive trick of the night was his ‘table dancing’ illusion in which a table seemingly floated through the air across the stage.

With his comic-timing and a hapless charm, Firman had the audience laughing from start to finish.

The Middlesborough funnyman, who recently starred in the BBC show Magicians, joked about the challenge of creating ‘a carnival-like atmosphere’ in the venue, referring to the quiet start.

However, there was no denying he had made an impression from the rapturous applause at the end.

Support was provided by stand-up comedian Chris Martin who was also a hit with the crowd with his humorous anecdotes.
