The Eastney parkrun has attracted nearly 3,600 entries over the 49 events which took place last year, the biggest single attendance being 124.

Denyse King, of Portsmouth City Council’s public health team, said: ‘These runs are all about participation, fun and enjoyment.

‘Some of the younger children run with their parents, but many run on their own, and some will be looking to improve their personal best time each week.’
