Have your say

When a heckler shouts out ‘I’m having the best night of my life’ and actually means it, you know that things are going well.

Probably best known in the UK for his appearances on 8 out of 10 cats and Mock the Week, Canadian stand-up Stewart Francis proved his comedy worth at the Southampton Guildhall.

His show, Outstanding in his Field, had everyone roaring with laughter. Impressively quick-witted and clever, his jokes are all carefully crafted one-liners. Sometimes so quick that they take a few moments to sink-in, his jokes are all polished masterpieces in their own right.

His jokes span all topics but are definitely for adults only. But it was a pleasant surprise to see a comedian making so many people laugh without resorting to offensive material. His act has the same deadpan style as Jimmy Carr, but without the offensive subjects.

He delved into the world of celebrity by joking about Posh and Becks (or ‘Thick and Thin’, as he likes to call them) and touched on certain television programmes (a documentary on ship building – absolutely riveting).

Don’t miss out. Stewart Francis comes to Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday, May 4.
