Stunned Gosport families meet Sir Anthony Hopkins on set of Transformers 5

STUNNED film fans were star-struck when a Hollywood actor held an impromptu meet and greet at the film set of a global blockbuster.
Layton Bradley, six, got a sneak preview of the set of Transformers 5 after his dad Gez, 31, took him to the film set at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport early on Thursday morning.

Delighted youngsters and their parents met Sir Anthony Hopkins as he headed into the set of Transformers 5, currently being filmed at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport.

Word spread like wildfire in the town that stars including Mark Wahlberg had been spotted on Wednesday.

Yesterday a crowd gathered with Sir Anthony stopping his black Range Rover and speaking to fans.

Dannie Belcher, 31, of Ayling Close, Gosport, took her son Charlie Murphy, nine.

She said: ‘My boy loves Transformers and I love Anthony Hopkins.

‘We went down on the off-chance of seeing something.

‘He came over to everyone thanking everyone for coming out.

‘He apologised as he didn’t have a lot of time, he said he wanted to say thanks.

‘He shook everyone’s hands who was there and took pictures with the kids, he was a lovely man.’

Little Charlie added: ‘I was really excited.

‘It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.’

Trucks were spotted at the museum in Haslar Road on Tuesday, sparking a frenzy.

And lucky Layton Bradley, six, was yesterday treated to a tour around after his dad Gez, 31, took him to the set before school at 7.30am.

Layton was given a Transformers tattoo kit and a kind-hearted crew member snapped a photo of him with the Bumblebee car character featured in the film franchise.

‘I love Bumblebee, I was excited to see Bumblebee,’ said the youngster.

He added: ‘I really liked the Transformers trailer where they were sleeping.’

Gez, a tattoo artist in Gosport, had an appointment cancelled in the day so was able to go back down later and snap a selfie with Sir Anthony outside.

Gez said: ‘He said I had a good beard and I said “quick selfie mate?”

‘Layton had the time of his life.’

It’s not known how long the museum is being used.

Filming also took place at Blenheim Palace last week.

The movie, Transformers: The Last Knight, is due for release on June 23 next year.
