Sun, sea and sweat! Hundreds head to Southsea Fitness Festival

FAMILIES and fitness buffs headed down to Southsea seafront in their hundreds on Saturday to strut their stuff in the sun.

Castle Field was a sea of fitness lovers trying out new activities or workouts as part of the third annual Southsea Fitness Festival.

The free event saw various fitness companies providing workouts and was accompanied by a health food market.

Organiser Luke Newton, from fitness group Sweat Southsea said: ‘This year is proving to be our biggest yet and it is great to see so many people get stuck in to all the workouts and activities.’

Portsmouth’s former Olympic swimmer Katy Sexton encouraged more fitness aficionados to try out new activities.

She said: ‘I think this festival is amazing as it really offers so much for everyone and will encourage people to get really active. It is also perfect that we’ve got stunning weather as well.’

Adele Taylor, from Baffins said: ‘I think this really ticks all the boxes when it comes to fitness. I fancy giving the boogie bounce a try and then I’m going to do the 5k run!’

Jade West, from Southsea added: ‘It really seems a lot of fun here. It will encourage more people to get active.’
