Fresh from scooping Best Band in The Guide Awards last month, The Strange Death of Liberal England were in top form at the Wedgewood Rooms.
It was a homecoming gig for the Southsea indie outfit who have been away on a busy European tour.
Thankfully they still had enough left in the tank to please their home town fans with a great gig.
Focusing mostly on new album Drown Your Heart Again, the harmonies and intricacies of their songs were executed beautifully live.
For obvious reasons, Strange Death were without the excellent Richard P Horn orchestra at the Wedge.
But, interestingly, they didn't lose any of the richness of the sound the orchestra gave them at their gig at The Kings Theatre in September.
Highlights from the set included Flagships, Rising Sea, Shadows and Come on You Young Philosophers - all top tracks from the new album.
This band just keeps getting better. At the moment they are under the radar but if they carry on at this rate they'll be tickling the charts in no time.
