With a wide and varied programme of shows and events coming up, it seems like there is something for everyone at the Kings Theatre, Southsea.
At the beginning of February dance afficionados can celebrate the Moscow City Ballet’s 25th anniversary with performances of both Romeo and Juliet and the Nutcracker.
Musical fans won’t be disappointed either with shows including Grease, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and Blood Brothers throughout the season.
There’s something for the kids too as the colourful Bananas in Pyjamas appear in March, followed by childhood icon Sooty in April and heart-warming puppet show Hugless Douglas – based on the popular children’s book – in May.
For the adults there is also a chance to relive some childhood memories when the 911 Illuminate Tour comes to the Kings in April and Strictly fans will be thrilled by a chance to see the Stars of Strictly perform later in the month.
April is also the month when the Kings gets to go back to its roots. Originally designed as an opera house, the theatre will be hosting Opera & Ballet International’s performance of Puccini’s La Boheme.
Throughout the spring season there are also family films showing ranging from Wall-E and School of Rock to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Gnomeo & Juliet.
On January 18, the public will get a chance to see life behind the scenes of the characterful Edwardian playhouse.
Visitors will get to explore from the dark depths below the stage to the dizzying heights of the fly floor, try on costumes and make-up and take part in range of exciting classes during the open day.
