From Tuesday, March 3 to Saturday, March 7, The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton plays host to New Adventure’s production of Edward Scissorhands.

The British company is perhaps best known for its ground-breaking interpretation of Swan Lake, with a cast comprised of male swans.

Director Matthew Bourne has devised, directed and choreographed the production based on the Tim Burton film, which premiered in 2005.

Featuring the unforgettable music that accompanied the film, composed by Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, this touching romance tells the bittersweet story of a boy created by a lonely inventor who dies leaving him alone and unfinished.

Left with only scissors for hands, Edward must find his place in a strange suburban world where the well meaning community struggle to see past his appearance to the innocence and gentleness within.

Dominic North returns as Edward, a role which won him a National Dance Award nomination as Best Male Dancer in 2009. He shares the part with Liam Mower.
