IT’S 16ft long, has big, scary teeth and hasn’t walked the Earth for millions of years – until now.

A dinosaur is about to invade Portsmouth’s Cascades Shopping Centre, or at least, a life-sized fully-functioning model of one is.

Southsea’s Kings Theatre is bringing the beast to scare shoppers in order to launch an upcoming play, Jurassic Adventures.

Dana the Dinosaur will be at Cascades on Tuesday from midday for the launch.

The theatre’s head of promotions Sandra Smith said the oversized prop was bound to turn a few heads.

She said: ‘Cascades has had several visits from characters from the theatre over the years, but a creature as large and scary as this one is a new and exciting one for us all.’

The play will feature the birth of a baby dinosaur called Chub.

Jurassic Adventures is being produced by World on Stage and the team behind Disney on Ice and is aimed at children aged three and over and their families.

The play will be on stage at the Kings on Friday, March 27 at 11.30am and 4.30pm.
