Have your say

Groundlings Theatre in Portsea is preparing for the Festival of Christmas at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard – and needs your help.

Go down to the Groundlings tonight from 6pm if you would like to register and take part. Organisers are looking for volunteers to dress up in Victorian garb, plus chaperones, hairdressers, crew and directors.

Singers, dancers and actors are also sought. Performers should call the Groundlings on (023) 9273 9496 or email

The festival runs from November 28-30 and performances take place from 9am- 5pm.

Festival favourites set to return include the largest ever market, Fagin’s Real Ale Tavern, Dickensian style snow-covered streets, a traditional Father Christmas dressed in green, a stage show and a wonderland of Victorian entertainment.
