Groundlings opens its doors to theatre fans giving a unique insight into the life of the historic performance space.

Groundlings Theatre tours will give members of the public the chance to explore the whole theatre, discovering the history in each of its rooms including the wardrobe which contains more than 11,000 costumes. Those taking the tour can find out about the story of Groundlings since it was first taken over in 2010, learn about the building’s former use as a school and hear about the theatre’s connections with both Elizabeth and Charles Dickens.

There will also be the chance to ask questions about the theatre and its origins and lucky theatre-goers will have the chance to go through Groundlings mysterious ‘secret door’.

Tours take place on Sunday at 2pm and Thursday at 12pm and 2pm at Groundlings theatre, Portsea.
