BRIT Award-winning group Blake are looking for a young people’s choir to join them on stage at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.
The trio will perform at the theatre on Thursday, June 6.
As part of the concert, they want a choir made up of youngsters aged under 18 to sing with them on a couple of songs.
Sandra Smith, of the Kings Theatre, said: ‘It was their idea.
‘They thought it would be a nice opportunity for them to bring young people into that kind of music.
‘To have an experience like that when you are young, it spreads throughout your whole life.
‘It might just give people that inspiration.
‘That’s why it’s a lovely thing to do.’
Sandra added that it’s a great chance for young people in the city to be able to perform with such a well-known group.
‘It will be a fantastic opportunity for a young group to be able to sing with Blake,’ she said. ‘They are brilliant. Their sound is amazing.
‘They sing absolutely beautifully.
‘They are wonderful to watch as well.
‘For a choir of young people to be able to sing with them on stage at the Kings Theatre and rehearse with them on the day will be a fantastic experience.
‘I hope that Portsmouth can live up to the expectations.
‘I’m sure that we can. We have so many young groups who have been absolutely brilliant. I’m sure we will be able to give someone that opportunity.’
The choir needs to be made up of between 25 and 30 people.
To enter the competition, send a short description of why you would like to perform with Blake, accompanied by a YouTube link or an audio file of your choir performing to email@example.com.
The deadline for entries is Friday, May 10.
Tickets are £18 for adults and concessions are available.
