BIG INTERVIEW Benjamin Zephaniah: 'I'm always creative – I've never had writer's block and never been bored'

Have your say

Following a sell-out run last year, Interalia Theatre return for another hilarious outing of historical Blackadder nonsense from the pen of Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

Interalia director Nick Scovell says: ‘Last year’s production went down so well, we had to follow up! We sold out everywhere we went and audiences and critics alike really seemed to enjoy the show.

‘We seem to have caught on to a trend of staging classic comedies. I think people enjoy seeing a fresh, but familiar take on what they know will be genuinely funny.’

Staging one episode from each of four series of the BBC hit comedy, the production will take audiences on a journey through time from medieval witch trials to the First World War.

‘We have chosen four of the best remembered episodes – including what many people regard as the ultimate classic when Baldrick burns Dr Johnson’s original dictionary, leaving Blackadder to attempt to re-write it overnight!’ says Nick.

The cast from last year were happy to be re-united. Sean Ridley, who plays Blackadder. says: ‘It was huge fun to do last year. Nick asked me to reprise the part and I said ‘‘yes’’ like a shot!’

The production will be raising money for Comic Relief.

Blackadder Rides Again! plays until Wednesday, 7.30pm at Ferneham Hall, Fareham. Tickets: £10. call 01329 231942.
