As redevelopment work continues at Chichester Festival Theatre, there are changes afoot behind the scenes too with a new face joining the flagship performance space’s creative team.
This month Lisa Makin joins Chichester Festival Theatre’s team of associates as creative producer.
Working with artistic director Jonathan Church, Lisa will help to deliver the artistic programme in the newly-refurbished Festival and Minerva theatres – as well as building on the company’s expanding national and international work.
Lisa was head of casting and associate director for the Royal Court Theatre for 20 years, working closely with many eminent directors and writers including Max Stafford-Clark, Stephen Daldry, Marianne Eliott, Ian Rickson, Dominic Cooke, Matthew Warchus, Phyllida Lloyd, Jez Butterworth, Richard Bean and David Hare to name but a few.
More recently, Lisa has worked in the commercial sector as a creative producer for Sonia Friedman Productions and as head of creative development at Stage Entertainment.
Jonathan Church says: ‘We have long admired Lisa’s work and find it incredibly exciting that she is coming to work with us in Chichester, just as our capital project RENEW nears completion and our focus returns to creating full-scale festivals with our theatre fully restored and improved.’
The RENEW redevelopment project began in 2012, the 50th anniversary year for Chichester Festival Theatre, and is restoring and upgrading its Grade II listed building.
Work is due for completion this year and the theatre will reopen in the summer with a major new production.
