Chichester Festival Theatre is synonymous with plays, musicals, and West End transfers.

But the theatre has more to offer than meets the eye, with charity productions, dances, and one-night performances.

One such evening is Laugh And Be Happy, a selection of songs by Randy Newman, which has been put together by actor Peter Polycarpou.

Currently starring as Beadle Bamford in Chichester Festival Theatre’s Sweeney Todd, Peter has appeared in countless TV programmes including EastEnders, Waking The Dead, and was even a cast member in the original Les Miserables in 1985.

Peter says: ‘I’ve always been a great fan of his music, and I love that his songs are written about characters, more observational. That’s why it’s good for actors to perform them.’

Currently performing in Sweeney Todd means organising the evening is a bit of a balancing act, but he wouldn’t change it.

He explains: ‘It’s extraordinary. I haven’t seen audiences react like this for many many years, it’s truly amazing.’

The evening is in support of The Lord’s Taverners’ and UK Thallasaemia Society, and takes place on October 27.

Tickets cost £15 from the Minerva Theatre, on (01243) 781312 or go to
