Set in America’s Deep South in the 1920s, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess is returning to the UK for a seven week tour – stopping off at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton from July 3-7.
Porgy and Bess is known around the world as ‘the people’s opera’. Written in 1935, the production contains iconic songs such as Summertime, I Got Plenty Of Nuttin’, It Ain’t Necessarily So, and I Loves Yous Porgy.
Cape Town Opera (CTO) is the largest performing arts company in South Africa. Since its establishment in 1999, the company has been committed to the continued performance and development of opera, operetta and musical theatre in South Africa.
