It’s London in 1745. A 12-year-old boy, Smith, is fast on his feet as he pickpockets his way through the city.
But when he picks on one particular gentleman, two men appear and he ends up witnessing a murder.
Smith runs and when he inspects his loot he is drawn into a sinister web of murder and betrayal.
Haunted by what he saw, Smith runs for his life in a chase that brings an unexpected friendship with a blind magistrate, imprisonment in Newgate jail and a dramatic conclusion in a graveyard on Prickler’s Hill.
Written by Leon Garfield, Titchfield Youth Theatre is putting on this production of Smith from May 10-12.
