Dead Simple is the latest stage adaptation of a best-selling Peter James crime thriller.
The plot begins with a stag party prank that goes horribly wrong, followed by an intense tale, full of twists and turns from start to finish.
Audible gasps from the packed-out audience were not uncommon at various intervals during the show.
Jamie Lomas is impressive as the unfortunate stag, Michael Harrison. But for me, it was Josh Brown who stole the show as troubled teen Davey Wheeler with an emotionally wrenching performance.
The clever set design and fantastic lighting added to the eerie atmosphere that the stellar cast created in the live theatre arena.
Fans of the book will not be disappointed, but those unfamiliar with the work will be equally impressed, if not on edge. Until Saturday.
