Let’s cut to the chase – this show is, as the named suggests, simply fantastic.
It starts with a bang (literally) and from then on, it’s a non-stop rollercoaster of laughs and uplifting songs that brings the familiar story of Mr Fox and family to life.
Boggis, Bunce and Bean are shown at their dastardly worst on their failed quest to capture the Mr Fox and Family.
And Mr Fox himself? A swaggering, larger than life, character brought brilliantly to life by Greg Barnett.
Few of us will have grown up without reading the Roald Dahl book this is based on.
But, understandably, Sam Holcroft has made some tweaks to the story.
Mrs Fox is expecting and instead of a son they have a feisty daughter, keen to join the daring raids on the farmers’ barns for food.
And rather than being the meek, subservient wife, Mrs Fox keeps her husband in check.
That said, we’re still following Mr Fox (and pals) on their adventure to escape the evil farmers and get to the food they desperately need.
As the show goes on we get more laughs as we build to the big finish.
All told it’s a great family show, full of fun and laughs. Catch it while you can.
Until January 8, when it transfers to London.
