From today to Saturday, the Mayflower hosts English National Ballet and their performance of Romeo and Juliet.
The world’s greatest love story, Romeo and Juliet features inventive, passionate choreography set to Prokofiev’s score, performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.
Originally created by Rudolf Nureyev in 1977 to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, English National Ballet has since performed it across the world to critical acclaim.
Alison McWhinney, who performs Juliet, describes how she gets into character.
‘You have to express the emotions of Juliet through body language and the steps. Depending on how much strength you commit to the step, it can be romantic, or it can be dramatic. It is all about the feeling you give before dancing the step.’
Tickets: £10.75 to £48.50
