Strictly Come Dancing heart-throb Brendan Cole’s latest show, Licence to Thrill, comes to Portsmouth this week.
The Kiwi dance dynamo’s explosive new performance looks set to leave audiences shaken and stirred when he appears at Portsmouth Guildhall on February 20.
Artwork for the new tour features Brendan standing in front of an exploding background complete with femme fatale Fauve Hautot. The show’s title also nods to Bond classic Licence to Kill and Brendan confesses to admiring the iconic spy.
‘I am a big Bond fan,’ says Brendan.
‘One of the main songs we are using is Licence to Kill, a fantastic Gladys Knight track. There are a few Bond numbers in the show and a bit of fire as well.’
But it’s not all about Bond in Brendan’s latest dance extravaganza .
‘We wanted to create a show that was very diverse and had a little something for everybody.
‘The choreography is pretty dynamic, there’s a lot of stuff going on. We’ve got five other phenomenal dancers who all bring their own flavour to the show.’
Unfortunately, due to a knee injury, Fauve Hautot is now unable to appear in Licence to Thrill, but fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Aliona Vilani has stepped up to fill her place.
‘We’ve definitely gelled well. Aliona is fitting in very, very well,’ says Brendan.
‘It was a real blow last year when Fauve had to pull out. But when I called Aliona she was excited about it and that’s what I wanted from her. In something like this, chemistry on stage is important. It makes a difference energy-wise.’
Licence to Thrill comes to Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday at 7.30pm. Tickets: £28–£34. Call 0844 847 2362 to book.
