Based on Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, the pocket-sized version features Bassaino, who falls in love with the wealthy Portia. He becomes imprisoned by a money lender, and time is running out to get out of the trap.

Appearing as part of the Havant Literacy Festival, after an hour of performance audiences are invited onto the stage.

Propeller’s critically acclaimed 2009 production (under the direction of Edward Hall, the associate director at the National Theatre, the
Old Vic and the Watermill Theatre) features an all-male cast.
