From today until June 13, the Minerva Theatre in Chichester will be home to The Rehearsal, but despite the name there will be nothing amateurish about it.
Written by French dramatist Jean Anouilh and translated by the show’s director, Jeremy Sams, the play is a savagely witty dissection of love, deception and the secret roles people really want to play.
The Count, better known as Tiger, is planning another of his spectacular parties, including an evening of amateur dramatics.
But as soon as rehearsals begin, it’s clear that his play will unleash just as much passion, shock and intrigue off stage as it will on.
Jeremy Sams will be in conversation with novelist and CFT biographer Kate Mosse on May 28 at 6pm. Tickets free but advance booking essential.
There will be a post-show discussion with some of the cast on Monday, May 25.
Tickets: £20-34, with some 16-25 tickets priced at £8.50. Visit cft.org.uk
