Musical legends The Who’s rock opera Tommy is brought to life by Portsmouth Theatre group CCADS this month at the Kings Theatre, Southsea.
Tommy follows the story of a young man with a past so troubled that he seems deaf , dumb and blind to everyone around him until he discovers a prodigious talent for pinball.
Sean Ridley plays lead character Tommy in the forthcoming production and the young star notices certain parallels between his own life and that of his on-stage character.
Sean says: ‘I’m one of those people that can be very quiet but if that lasts too long I can get very excited, so I use all that pent-up energy for when Tommy becomes successful.
‘I was diagnosed with autism when I was very young and it was only when I got into acting that I started to break out, so Tommy follows the same path as me, starting off quiet and only growing into himself as he gets older.’
Tommy is at the Kings Theatre from Thursday June 19 to Saturday June 21. Tickets:£10–£14.
