Southsea should prepare for a pirate invasion during February half term week with the opening of Treasure Island, a brand new pantomime by the Phoenix Players.

This year’s show promises to be one of the best yet as the players take on some of the most well-known fictional characters, including the villainous Long John Silver and adventurous Jim Hawkins, in the quest to find the long lost buried treasure.

Jim’s mother Mrs Hawkins is the panto dame, and is one of a number of new fun characters that have been introduced in this updated version along with her feisty Swedish barmaid, Helga, and the pirates’ intelligent parrot Crackers.

The audience will feel part of the adventure as they help Jim and his mother on their journey from their inn The Admiral’s Bimbo to the cannibal-infested Treasure Island.

The show’s soundtrack is full of family favourites from shows and films including Frozen, The Blues Brothers and The Muppets’ Treasure Island.
