Carol Channing famously shrieked ‘raspberries’ as Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern Millie – but The Academy of Musical Theatre’s version will be anything but.

The local musical theatre school will make their debut at the Kings Theatre in Southsea tomorrow with Thoroughly Modern Millie, preceded by a 30-minute performance of Disney hit The Aristocats by the younger students.

Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr is set in New York City in 1922, when young Millie Dillmount has just moved to the big city in search of a new life for herself.

It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz, in a time when women were beginning to enter the workforce and the rules of love and social behaviour were changing forever.

Featuring fantastic tap numbers and a talented cast of young people aged between seven and 18 years, this wonderful musical will entertain audiences of all ages. Performance starts at 6pm. Tickets: £10-£12, call the Kings Theatre box office on (023) 9282 8282 or online at
