The film has been back in cinemas from Friday (November 9) to today (November 11).

They Shall Not Grow Old will be shown on BBC Two tonight (November 11). 

The film will be aired at 9.30pm and it will last around one hour and 39 minutes. 

What is it about? 

The film uses footage from the First World War from the Imperial War Museum to tell the story of life on the frontlines during the war. 

They Shall Not Grown Old doesn't feature historians speaking about the events, like often happens in documentaries, and the only voices you will hear will be that of Great War veterans taken from the 1960s BBC show The Great War. 

The film doesn't feature reenactments either '“ so all of the people you will see actually served in and fought in the First World War. 

How did Peter Jackson make it? 

The film, which uses actual footage from the Great War, was made using black and white film reels from the Imperial War Museum (IWM). 

Through advancements in modern technology, director Peter Jackson has added colour and brought the footage back to life. 

The film was commissioned by the IWM and 14-18 NOW '“ an arts programme to commemorate the centenary of the First World War '“ as well as the BBC. 

They Shall Not Grow Old will air at 9.30pm on BBC Two tonight.
