Things to do this weekend in the Portsmouth area

Whether it's scary Halloween activities, impressive fireworks displays or drinking a few pints of beers, there's something for everyone this weekend in Portsmouth.

We’ve had a look at what events we’ll be at this weekend.

There are plenty of activities for children, not least Cosham Fire Station’s Halloween Day which will feature face painting and crafts.

Running on Saturday from 10am to 1pm, the event will also include a talk from officers on fire safety during the Halloween period and how to keep safe while out trick or treating.

Havant’s B&Q branch is also holding a Halloween fun-day - with balloon modelling and some spook-tacular stilt walkers.

Staff at the Purbrook Way store will be celebrating as the newly revamped shop opens to the public.

It will be open from 11am until 4pm on Saturday.

For the adults, meat and beer should be on top of the menu - not least with Portsmouth’s version of Oktoberfest.

The popular event finally comes to the city’s Guildhall Square, which will be swallowed up by Europe’s single largest beer tent.

On Saturday there will be a Bavarian inspired spectacle complete with German beer and food and Oompah band entertainment.

On the same day Portchester Community Centre will host its third cider and sausage festival.

There will be a variety of ciders and perrys available as well as six different flavours of sausage sourced from local butchers.

The event is between 12pm and 5pm, with tickets available from the centre reception.
