22 must visit pubs and restaurants in Hampshire according to Michelin Guide 2020

THE Michelin Guide is seen as one of the major hallmarks of quality in the culinary world.

So getting your restaurant or pub featured in the guide is a sign that you are serving up some of the best food around.

Started by French tyre company Michelin more than one hundred years ago, the guide is published annually.

As well as the famed Michelin stars – which are used to denote the best restaurants around the world – the guide also dishes out other awards such as The Plate.

For the 2020 edition of the Michelin Guide there are 22 restaurants in Hampshire featured.

Here is the full list:

36 on the Quay

This restaurant in 47 South Street, The Quay, Emsworth, is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

36 on the Quay serves modern dishes display a wealth of different flavours and textures and have the occasional international leaning.

Michelin Guide says that it costs between £28 and £59.

Fat Olives

Another Emsworth restaurant is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

Fat Olives can be found in 30 South Street, Emsworth and has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

It serves classic British dishes have a modern edge and rely on small local suppliers.

Michelin Guide says that it costs between £24 and £45.

The Thomas Lord

This pub in High Street, West Meon is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

The pub’s menu balances the classics with some more adventurous offerings.

Michelin Guide says that it costs between £27 and £39.

The Terrace

This restaurant in Palace Lane, Beaulieu is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

East End Arms

This country pub in Lymington Road, East End is in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

Elderflower

This restaurant in 4-5 Quay Street, Lymington, is in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

The restaurant serves quintessentially British food, with a sprinkling of French.

The Pig

This restaurant in Brockenhurst is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

The Pig serves traditionally British cuisine and the cooking is unfussy and wholesome.

Black Rat

This restaurant in 88 Chesil Street, Winchester is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded One Michelin star – meaning high quality cooking, worth a stop.

Hartnett Holder & Co

This restaurant in Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

This pub in 58 Middlebridge Street, Romsey is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

Three Tuns has classic pub dishes that are generously proportioned and full of flavour.

Verveine

This restaurant in 98 High Street, Milford-on-Sea is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

The focus is on wonderfully fresh fish and cooking is original with the odd playful twist.

Avenue

This restaurant in Woodman Lane, Sparsholt is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

Avenue serves a modern menu that champions British produce, with scallops from Orkney, fish from Lymington and game from the New Forest.

The Purefoy

This pub in Alresford Road, Preston Candover is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.

The Purefoy has a range of menus offering everything from keenly priced pub classics to more modern, innovative combinations and even a tasting menu.

Greyhound on the Test

This pub in 31 High Street, Stockbridge is featured in the Michelin Guide for 2020.

It has been awarded The Plate by the guide.
