Euro 2020: Live updates as pubs packed across Portsmouth ahead of England vs Italy final

England have lost the Euro 2020 final on penalties.

The Three Lions men’s team were in their first major tournament final for 55 years – the last being at Wembley in 1966 – and took Italy to extra-time and penalties.

Kurt Lee, 35, Eugene Sharp, 29, Kyle Ward, 29 and Dan Fiford, 32 all from Southsea, at the Kings pub in Albert Road.

The tension in pubs across the area was palpable – but sadly it was not to be.

Football-mad Marc Fewell, 41, said he knew he was taking a risk of watching Gareth Southgate’s men win over Germany alongside thousands of fans in London.

He thought that risk was outweighed by having been double vaccinated with the Pfizer jab. The Waterlooville dad thought he was fully protected.

But after going on to suffer so badly with the virus that he could barely lift a finger to celebrate the 2-1 win over Denmark, he is warning others what Covid can do.
