No catamaran service due to '˜extreme weather'

The Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde catamaran service has been cancelled this morning.

Wightlink, who operate the service, said it is due to ‘mechanical problems and extreme weather conditions’.

‘There will be no service from Portsmouth Harbour until further notice, there will however be sailings from Ryde Pier operated by a charter vessel at ten minutes past the hour.’

There will also be a three-day closure of the Portsmouth car ferry between March 28 and 30. Sailings will operate to and from the Portsmouth International Port (Cruise and Cross Channel Ferry Terminal).

The company have advised that only booked vehicles will be accepted during this time and foot passengers can only travel on the Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head passenger catamaran route.

An additional overnight foot passenger service will be operated between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head.
