Staggeringly good beer at Southsea Beerex

REAL ale lovers were in their element at the opening night of Southsea Beerex.

It was a packed house at the Wedgewood Rooms, in Albert Road, where punters queued to sample some of the 30 beers on offer.

There were local offerings from the likes of Staggeringly Good and Southsea Brewing Company.

And there was some great music from Pete Christie and Jamadad.

Organiser Stuart Ainsworth, landlord of The Leopold Tavern, said: ‘This is the second one we’ve put on. Last year’s was a great success. I’ve always wanted to put on a beer festival, so I spoke to Geoff Priestley at the Wedgewood Rooms about it.

‘He knows the music, I know the beer. It’s a perfect marriage.’

Tickets are available for today – midday until 5pm and 6pm until 11pm.
