The new album, released last week, features classic Christmas carols but with lyrics changed to reflect life for people in the military and their families.

It features more than 1000 singers, the biggest project the group has ever undertaken.

Sue Daniels, chairwoman of the Military Wives Choirs Foundation, said: ‘We are delighted with the continued achievements and growth of the Military Wives choirs network.

‘The festive season can be a difficult time, particularly for those within the military community.

‘By creating “Home for Christmas”, Military Wives are supporting each other through music and extending this unity to families throughout the UK, and across the world.’

To accompany the release the group have been touring seven cathedrals across the UK, including Winchester and Exeter.

The title track Home for Christmas will be released on Friday.
