Who will be dancing what dance as Strictly returns tonight
A new batch of celebrities will spin around the dancefloor as they vie for the coveted glitter ball trophy when Strictly Come Dancing returns to TV tonight.
Former shadow chancellor Ed Balls, Birds Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph and singer Louise Redknapp are among the stars competing in the latest series.
They will be joined by American singer Anastacia, presenter Laura Whitmore, model Daisy Lowe, actor Danny Mac, singer Will Young, actress Tameka Empson, TV star Judge Robert Rinder, BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty, presenters Ore Oduba and Melvin Odoom and Olympians Greg Rutherford and Claudia Fragapane.
Six stars will dance with their professional partners on tonight’s show and the remaining nine will show off their moves on Saturday.
Young will pay tribute to David Bowie when he hits the dancefloor for the first time, performing his first routine to Let’s Dance with his partner Karen Clifton.
Balls and Katya Jones will be tackling a waltz to Elvis Presley’s Are You Lonesome Tonight, while Anastacia and Brendan Cole will be cha-chaing to Patti LaBelle’s hit Lady Marmalade.
Gymnast Fragapane and AJ Pritchard have choreographed a routine to One Direction’s chart-topper What Makes You Beautiful, while gold medalist Rutherford and Natalie Lowe will be taking on a jive to The Temptations’ Get Ready.
Daisy Lowe will be hoping she and Aljaz Skorjanec are as Unforgettable as the Nat King Cole track they will be waltzing to.
The contestants will be given scores from the judges after their performances on Friday and Saturday.
Those marks will be carried forward to week two, when the public can vote for the first time.
The first couple will be eliminated from the BBC show on October 2.
