Your guide to Portsmouth's free fireworks display in Cosham

When and where is it?

The event will start at 4pm on Wednesday at the playing fields in Cosham.

There will be a funfair for the under 12’s, and the bonfire will be lit at 7pm.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor David Fuller. will then lead the countdown to the fireworks at 7.30pm.

What fireworks can we expect?

This year’s display is being put on by Nemisis Pyrotechnics and will include 20 minutes of fireworks - which will have a Pirates of Portsmouth theme.

Visitors are asked not to bring their own fireworks and sparklers to the display, as these pose a health and safety risk.

How do I get there?

Cosham train station is just five minutes walk away, and you can check times by going to the National Rail website.

There are also bus stops alongside the site on Northern Road, you can use myjourneyportsmouth.co.uk to plan your journey.

But is there somewhere to park?

If you do need to drive, there will be parking at 1000 Lakeside (PO6 3EN) off Western Road - The News’s HQ.

This will cost £2 a car, raising money for the local Rotary Club.

Pedestrians are reminded not to attempt to cross Western Road to get to or from the event, as this is a high-speed road. Marshals will point you to the nearest walking route using subways.

Cars parked on yellow lines or grass verges risk being towed as routes need to be kept clear.
